"We are a community who really gets down to the business of making things better."
About
Vera LeFranc
Social Justice Advocate

Vera LeFranc moved to Surrey in 1998. She and her partner Jen live in Guildford and are parents to two grown children and grandparents to five. Vera and Jen both have deep connections in their neighbourhood, enjoying their community garden plot in Holly Park, the walking and biking trails of Green Timbers, and the many amenities that are close by.

Vera grew up on Haida Gwaii in Northern British Columbia, where her social justice and advocacy work began at an early age. Vera has spent decades working in the non-profit sector, focusing on anti-violence, poverty reduction, crime prevention, homelessness and economic development. With a degree in Business and Liberal Studies from Simon Fraser University, Vera brings solid mix of business sense and a passion for social justice to her community work. Since 2007, Vera has provided leadership in developing the Surrey Homelessness & Housing Society, and worked with the Society’s Board of Directors and Foundation to distribute almost $3 million in funding to organizations working with Surrey’s most vulnerable.

OUR
PLATFORM

Public Safety

Taking immediate steps to curb violence must be balanced with long-term policy decisions — ensuring that we prevent problems before they happen.

Connecting Communities

From LRT to an Innovation Hub, we're interested in the  investments that strengthen the fabric of our community, making Surrey more vibrant and inviting.

Housing & Livability

Every month 1,300 new residents choose Surrey for its livability and amenities for young families. Let's invest in what's working and future protect our city.

Arts & Culture

The vibrancy and maturity of a city is often judged by the quality of its artistic expression. It's time for Surrey to invest for the future of our cultural landscape.

Sports & Recreation

Our public venues are second to none in the Province. Pride of place comes from supporting homegrown talent, cultivated on our own fields and facilities.

Open & Transparent Government

Let's shape our future, together. That can only happen when everyone feels welcome at City Hall, and our residents understand how decisions are made.
